Overcoming challenges is what life is about. There’s not a single person on this planet who goes untouched, unscathed. Some of us have to face hurdles while others have to face horrors. There are levels to what we deem to be “challenges,” and, with each level, a different set of mental, physical and/or emotional tactics we must use in order to lessen the blow and overcome our realities.
Life is an interesting, fragile set of circumstances that can be so bright one moment and dark the next. So exciting today and mundane tomorrow. And since none of it is guaranteed, we must focus on celebrating the good and mitigating the bad. And we must take time to find gratitude in the little blessings that we so often overlook or take for granted. And some of those blessings can indeed be the victories we achieve in overcoming our challenges.
I think as human beings we tend to gravitate toward to things we lack in life and, instead of appreciate our successes, we admire our problems. And those forms of admiration can lead down a dark, rabbit-hole filled path of getting stuck in a recurring world of mental block-itis (I made up that word). Which leads to an inability to face our challenges head on and make the necessary changes to come out ahead on the other side.
As we approach the weekend, take into account all of the beauty around you and also all of the areas in your life where change is needed. And if you find gratitude in the beauties, you will begin to recognize that the challenges are not necessarily the mountains you have created. They, in fact, are truly the molehills that they always were, but that you allowed to “grow” due to a longstanding path of admiration. Squash the hills, adjust your mentality, and let gratitude lead the way to a more self-aware, consciously present existence.
